He's back...

I know you all have heard the news, David Beckham (right) has been recalled to the English national team.

Finally, one of the most underrated players in the last couple of years is getting his due (and hopefully his 100th cap for the Three Lions).

Beckham really is an icon unlike any other. He's essentially a vintage-Michael Jordan and Brad Pitt rolled into one, making him the biggest celebrity the world has ever seen.

Amid the tabloids and paparazzi, we often forget that he is still one of the game's greats. The 32-year old can still dominate a match on the wing like no one else.

In my experience with the beautiful game, there nothing like a perfect service into the box. Or a perfect free kick, for that matter. Both of which Beckham wrote the book on.

My favorite Beckham moment is this one, in stoppage time against Greece in a 2001 World Cup qualifier to clinch his country's trip to the final.

It's too bad for the MLS though. Beckham's new-found participation with the national team will very much conflict with his schedule in the U.S.

Look at this comparison as published on The Offside - L.A. Galaxy.
England
Sept. 8 - England v Israel
Sept. 12 - England v Russia
Oct. 13 - England v Estonia
Oct. 17 - Russia v England
Nov 21 - England v Croatia

L.A. Galaxy
Sept. 8 - LA v Colorado
Sept. 13 - Chivas v LA
Oct. 13 - LA v TFC
Oct. 18 - LA v NYRB
Nov. 18 - MLS Cup final
American soccer fans will just have to wait that much longer before countless shots of Posh Spice (right) in the stands.

But to hell with the MLS, it can wait.

In other news, the media makes something out of nothing. Robinho says Kaka likes Real Madrid, so what?!?

The MLS Zone takes a look at some possible signings for Real Salt Lake. It won't be Beasley, Keller makes the most sense.

FIFA says no dice to high-altitide soccer matches.

Here's a tribute to the once-great Robbie Fowler, from I Dislike Your Favorite Team (at bottom of post).

With Leather gives a touching tribute to a not-so-touching subject. It happens to the best of us.

Yeah he scored that free kick against Greece but does it show all the otehrs he missed in that game and his general running around like a headless chicken in it?

A desperate backwards step by a manger out of his depth for a guy who was useless in the last two WCs and Euros.

Sorry toxic, but I'm behind Joshua on this. You are quite definitely the first person I have ever heard badmouth Beckham's Greece performance, a game that just about everyone including his critics agrees is Beckham's best 90 minutes ever. That leads me to believe that you've got an axe to grind against Becks. It also leads me to believe that you haven't been watching La Liga much this season, now have you? Nevermind the sensationalist Madrid media, when the ever-critical and extremely knowledgeable Bernabeu faithful are singing your name (and you're not Spanish, to boot) well then you must be doing something right.

Speaking of sensationalist media, I'm guessing you subscribe to the idea created by the English media that 3 quarterfinal finishes in the Eriksson-Becks era is a bad haul..
