As if the picture wasn't creepy enough...This 73-year-old guy, Josef Fritzl, imprisoned his 18-year-old daughter in the basement back in 1984 and fathered seven children with her.
Ugh.
Police just recently freed her, now in her 40s, and the kids from the basement. And I wish that was all.
Fritzl had a previous rape conviction, once forced a prostitute into the dungeon with him and claimed his daughter was part of a religious cult -- which makes it all okay.
The rest of family had always believed the girl had run away.
So horrific is this story, that Austrian government officials fear this monster might scare people from coming to the country, especially for this summer's European Championship soccer tournament which it is co-hosting with Switzerland.
English soccer fans have already threatened to kill Fritzl's lawyer when they come over for the games.
Needless to say, Austria is in severe damage control.
Sports secretary Reinhold Lopatka insists the case does not reflect “the real Austria.”
“Euro 2008 will show Austria like it really is,” Lopatka said. “A hospitable and sophisticated country, where sports and culture are at home.”So despite this story -- which might be the most horrible thing I've ever heard -- who wants to go see some soccer in Austria?

I'm pretty confident that most ordinary people can differentiate between one crazed, psycho, disgusting lunatic, and the rest of the population. Every country has its awful people, even if none are quite so odious as this one.
Austria is, as Lopatka said, hospitable and sophisticated. I am 100% confident that fans coming to Austria in the summer will find this out and have greta time. If they decide not to come because they think all Austrians are sex fiends, then that's their loss.

The story of this man and the story of Euro 2008 seem to be non sequitir.
not to mention the other sicko who kidnapped a little girl and imprisoned her in his basement for eight years. she escaped two years ago and he thankfully threw himself in front of a train.
oh, and then there's adolph hitler...
the first point is that England are not at euro 2008 as they could not get a draw vs croats even with only 2-2 with 10 mins left. (they should have put Hargreaves on the pitch)Also I can see UEFA some how making the tournament bigger in 2016 because they want England and other big teams in the tournament becuase england not being at euro 2008 has cost the hotels and ticket sales a big amount of money as England have largest travelling support in football.
Also Austria is the worst team to have played in the european championship's ever worst than Estonia in Euro 2004.
