2-0

2-0 against Real Salt Lake.

2-0 on the season.

The Sounders FC are perfect so far for the 2009 campaign. What class the side has shown in its first couple matches, it continues to amaze me.

Here are some thoughts:
  • Fredy Montero -- clearly a marked man from the start -- was sparkling and spectacular again in the encore from last Thursday. What a strike from distance to seal the win.

  • Despite a lackluster second half, the Sounders FC bent... a lot... but the backline didn't break. And Kasey Keller stepped up huge to earn the clean sheet.

  • Guys that continue to impress: Osvaldo Alonso, crisp tackling, set up the early goal; Sebastien Le Toux, workaholic, dangerous runs; Jhon Kennedy Hurtado, physical defender with a great feel for the game and strong instincts.

  • Steve Zakuani was lethal on the flank. Great assist to get Seattle on the board early.

  • How deep is this team? Freddie Ljungberg, an established European star was a near afterthought in his debut.
This team is solid, but still has flaws. The outside backs are particularly underwhelming and the lack of a strong center-midfield presence leaves much to be desired in the possession game.

But so far, so good. Now can the Sounders FC do it on the road...?

I may have been in Seattle for several years now and love the Seahawks and U-Dub sports.......but TFC TILL I DIE!!!

When the Sounders come to BMO they'll be in for a war which they will lose!

But for now, great effort by Seattle and they're looking very impressive.

Freddy Montero = Legend.
