MLS power rankings: Week 1

I've shied away from these in the past, as not to water down other people's work with an uninformed opinion.

Actually I was too lazy.

But I've watched the highlights and read up on every other game, so why not give it a shot...

Don't be afraid to tell me where I'm wrong.

Or offer your own rankings if you like.

1. Chicago Fire (1-0-0)
A 3-1 road win has Brian McBride and the boys off to a great start.

2. Columbus Crew (0-0-1)
GBS salvages a point on the road in Houston. They're still the champs.

3. Seattle Sounders FC (1-0-0)
A 3-0 thrashing of a team in the MLS Cup is worthy of praise.

4. Houston Dynamo (0-0-1)
Allowed a late goal to the Crew, but Brian Ching is my boy.

5. Toronto FC (1-0-0)
Three road goals for our Canadian folk. Off to a great start with DeRo.

6. New England Revolution (1-0-0)
Not super impressed with a 1-0 road win at San Jose, but it's still 3 pts.

7. Chivas USA (1-0-0)
A Nagamura brace gives 'em the win despite dealing with some injuries.

8. Real Salt Lake (0-0-0)
Haven't played yet, but face a tough test at Seattle on Saturday.

9. Kansas City Wizards (0-1-0)
Yes they lost at home, but Davy Arnaud's goals were pretty damn good.

10. D.C. United (0-0-1)
Blowing a 2-0 lead on the road won't make the fans too happy.

11. L.A. Galaxy (0-0-1)
Landon Donovan saved what was otherwise a pretty poor performance.

12. Colorado Rapids (0-1-0)
Had some good chances and battled on the road. Could be OK.

13. San Jose Earthquakes (0-1-0)
Probably aren't this bad, but they drew the worst home crowd of the week.

14. N.Y. Red Bulls (0-1-0)
Made the rookies look like champs, a very lackluster showing on Thurs.

15. F.C. Dallas (0-1-0)
Worst loss of the week was at home deserves a spot in the basement.
