Gooch to Birmingham?

Is it finally done? The Daily Mail seems to think so, and they're British over there, so they wouldn't emotionally jump the gun on this one...

Would they?
Birmingham City are to sign the Standard Liege central defender Oguchi Onyewu and have made a new £5m bid for Cardiff City centre half Roger Johnson.

Free agent Onyewu, 27, is to sign a three-year contract at St Andrew's. He had a brief taste of life in the Premier League two years ago when he made 11 appearances on loan for Newcastle United.
I kinda like the move. Birmingham has been in and out of the EPL of late, but did finish as high as 10th in the 2003-04 season and 12th the next.

Certainly it's a great opportunity for the hulking American to establish himself on a team devoid of high expectations. Plus, playing the best can only make him better and the brutish style of play fits too.

Good times.
