Sounders FC 2, Timbers 1

It was nice to see some U.S. Open Cup on live television last night. It was even better to see Seattle's B-team beat up on high-flying Portland in front of its own fans.

Some thoughts:
  • How about Timbers' villain Roger Levesque scoring less than a minute in? Wish I coulda seen the celebration...
  • 16,000 fans is pretty good. That fanbase will be a welcome addition to the league.
  • Sanna Nyassi looked pretty dangerous on the wing for a second-straight game.
  • The disparity in talent in last night's game compared to A-team MLS lineups was very obvious.
  • Major League Soccer swept both games Wednesday. Houston beat Austin 2-0 in another third-round game.
Still weird not rooting for giant-killers (USL Sounders), but the success has been the same so far...
