International soccer day

Hats off to Honduras first off. A 4-0 spanking of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying leader Costa Rica launches them past Mexico and United States (goal differential) into second place.

Trinidad and Tobago beat El Salvador 1-0 in the other match.

In UEFA qualifying, credit wins to Slovenia, Germany, Croatia, France and Norway.

Some friendly winners include Spain (3-2 win after trailing 2-0 Macedonia), Brazil, Portugal and Argentina (Messi got injured, uh oh). Holland and England played to a fun 2-2 draw (with Jermain Defoe, right, netting a second-half brace for the Three Lions).

Fabio Cannavaro passed the legend Maldini as the most capped Italian international in a lame 0-0 tie against Switzerland.
