Seattle win trophies

D.C. United had to know that if they lost, that cocky 'We win trophies' tagline would come back around.

What a U.S. Open Cup final! Seattle Sounders FC 2, D.C. United 1.

Great game.

So many chances for both sides and a fun, attacking version of soccer was on display at RFK Stadium on Wednesday.

As the Sounders FC flubbed chance after chance straight to D.C. keeper Josh Wicks, I thought it would be another game of frustration that ended in a negative result.

But Fredy Montero pounced on a rebound (then got pounced/stomped on by Wicks that idiot headcase) and the USL-1 connection of Seba Le Toux to Roger Levesque added the insurance.

Seattle fans can't be more proud of their team -- especially that makeshift central defense that got the job done. A trophy in its first year at the top flight. It's a honor worthy of a class organization.

And while that's all good and well, the Sounders FC needs to pick things up at the MLS level and get into the playoffs.

Here are some highlights:

Thank you for the post. Great Game! I'm from STL but supported you guys all the way. Congradulations Seattle....You deserved the win!

Just want to add a point about DC's keeper. What a despicable act of sportmanship. He deserves the Red card despite his early heroic.

Anyways, the day belongs to Seattle!!
