That's a heckuva accomplishment, but Egypt winning the African Cup of Nations for the third-straight time will have to be a consolation prize for not making the World Cup.
The Pharaohs didn't look the part of champions for most of the final against Ghana, but substitute Mohamed Gedo scored in the 85th minute on a pretty give-and-go to give his team the 1-0 win Sunday.
That's a record of seven titles for Egypt now.
Definitely glad the U.S. plays Algeria in group play instead. Oh, Nigeria finished third, beating said Algeria 1-0 on Saturday.
FYI, in case you hadn't heard, Togo has remarkably been banned from a couple future tournaments. Ridiculous.
